Tesco drops prices for online shoppers to as low as £1 with limited two‑day deal

Tesco has announced it is dropping certain prices for many customers who shop online at the supermarket in a newly confirmed limited-time offer. In the UK, Tesco is one of the most popular and dominant supermarket chains, processing more than one million online grocery orders per week. As part of the new two-day offer, Tesco says customers can snap up discounted nationwide delivery slots next week, with prices dropping to as low as £1 on Tuesday, May 12, and Wednesday, May 13. Tesco will also reduce all one-hour delivery slots to £2, while four‑hour and flexi saver slots will cost just £1. Every slot throughout both days is included in the promotion. The discounted slots are live now and available to book via Tesco.com and the Tesco app. The offer is applicable to all available delivery slots nationwide for those two days. These slots fall under Tesco's Home Delivery service, which allows customers to order groceries up to three weeks in advance and generally requires a minimum spend of £50 per order. Normal delivery times are between 8am and 11pm from Monday to Friday, and 8am to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday. This limited-time promotion offers a significant saving compared to the retailer's usual pricing structure, which includes various Delivery Saver plans. These plans typically cost a monthly fee starting at £2.49 to eliminate delivery charges. While Delivery Saver plans offer perks like early access to Christmas and Easter slots, this two-day offer makes low-cost, nationwide delivery widely accessible to all customers who book through Tesco's digital platforms. Using a Tesco Clubcard can also give customers another way to save money at the supermarket. A card helps you get special prices and earn points for vouchers. Shoppers may also consider buying 'own brand' products, and looking out for 'yellow sticker' discounts. Using the Tesco Grocery and Clubcard app can help you keep track of your vouchers. Plus, choosing delivery saver passes or click-and-collect can help you save even more money. In other Tesco news, the supermarket has recently announced that it is extending its popular Aldi Price Match scheme to more than 2,000 Express convenience stores. It means that if you need anything from Tesco Express, you will now be able to choose from a range of products that are price-matched to Aldi. The investment marks the biggest expansion of Tesco’s Aldi Price Match scheme since its launch in May 2020, and means that shoppers across the UK can now get even better value, but with the convenience offered by their local Tesco Express store. Among the everyday essentials that customers will find price-matched to Aldi at Express stores at launch are Tesco Penne Pasta Quills 500g, two-pint bottles of Tesco semi-skimmed milk, and Tesco whole iceberg lettuce. In total, more than 200 products will be available on Aldi Price Match in Tesco Express stores, although the range of products stocked will vary by store, dependent on store size and location. The products included will have the distinctive Aldi Price Match logo displayed at the shelf edge, so that customers can see which are matched.
