Teenager arrested for armed robbery of children's lemonade stand in Boston

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Friday on two counts each of Armed Robbery and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, according to the Boston Police Department. The teen allegedly robbed two children running a lemonade stand on Wednesday by flashing a firearm. Victims twelve-year-old David Byrne and his 11-year-old sister Juliette told police officers that two suspects made several passes by the stand before approaching and asking whether Apple Pay would be accepted as payment. 'He walked over here, he said, "I might need to take the box," and he grabbed it with one hand, and then he showed us the gun,' David told CBS. 'My sister, she put her hands up, and I just said, "You can have it." But after that I just was like a little annoyed because we were 12 and 11 and you shouldn't really do that.' The suspects fled with the cash box, which was later found empty, according to the outlet. It was in the middle of broad daylight.' Jennifer Byrne, the victims' mother, told the outlet that she was relieved to hear that an arrest was made. The stand reopened on Friday to a large crowd, which included Mayor Michelle Wu.  Additionally, young David appreciated the support and that a suspect had been placed in custody. 'I'm feeling supported because I didn't think this many people would come to this event, and it's really cool, and it's just exciting,' said David. 'I'm very grateful that they found one of the kids, and I just want to say thank you.' 'I never thought this many people would come,' Juliette said. 'It really makes me feel happy.' Officials are still searching for the second suspect and are asking the public to help identify them Kevin Hayden was also in attendance at the reopening and told WHDH: 'We're going to do everything we can to make sure that we hold the appropriate people accountable here.'
