By ASHLEY NICKEL, NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA Published: 08:45, 21 July 2026 | Updated: 08:55, 21 July 2026 A 15-year-old boy was repeatedly stabbed by a group of three hooded thugs while walking home from school. Three youths yelled a 'war cry' before setting upon the teenager near Alkira Secondary College in Cranbourne North, southeast Melbourne, about 3.15pm on Monday. Reports about a stabbing emerged on Monday afternoon but weren't confirmed until Tuesday.  It's understood the attackers used several knives and machetes to slash at the victim's back, neck and hands. The boy, who'd been walking with two friends, managed to run away and collapsed on the nearby school oval. The 15-year-old boy was rushed from the oval to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He reportedly underwent further surgery on Tuesday. Victoria Police Detective Inspector Mark Patrick described the attack as 'extremely violent'. A boy, 15, was repeatedly slashed by a group of hooded thugs outside his school in southeast Melbourne 'You think about long-edged weapons and the reason you're arming yourself with these weapons is to cause serious injury and to cause fear,' he said. Insp Patrick added the three attackers had yelled shortly before slashing the victim. 'It's similar to a war cry, when you go into battle, to get their attention and to create fear in their intended victims,' he said. The three offenders were not students at the school and remain at large. Daily Mail has contacted Victoria Police for comment.  Sorry we are not currently accepting comments on this article.
