Teenage girl woke up to her blanket moving in dead of night... then hellish nightmare began

By LAURA PARNABY, US SENIOR NEWS REPORTER Published: 14:34, 5 August 2026 | Updated: 14:34, 5 August 2026 A teenage girl has recounted the nightmare moment she felt her blanket moving in the middle of the night... and woke up to find a stranger in her bedroom.  Lee Johnson, 26, has been accused of entering the home in Philadelphia before sexually assaulting the 18-year-old girl during the early hours of June 4.  Detectives have warned that Johnson is still on the loose, and may have been involved in other sexual assaults and home invasions in Pennsylvania.  For the teenager, who spoke with ABC6, the horror unfolded as she slept in her family home on the 2200 block of East Somerset Street in the city's Kensington neighborhood. Speaking anonymously alongside her parents, the teen said she was jolted awake at around 5am after sensing someone tugging at her blankets.  'First I felt the covers coming off of me, I'm just thinking it's me moving in my sleep,' she told the outlet.  Moments later, she realized that somebody snuck into her bed and began touching her.   'I felt somebody touching me inappropriately down there,' she said. 'I couldn't even open my eyes all the way. The street is pictured above  The alleged victim added that the man noticed she was awake, and leapt on top of her to cover her mouth.  She managed to scream seconds before while trying to fight off the stranger, and her mother heard the commotion.  'When I heard her say, "somebody in here," I immediately jumped up,' her mother said.  'When I jumped up I seen him running up the steps and running out my back door.'  The teenager added that the stranger quickly jumped off her bed and bolted.  Her mother said the incident has left their family feeling 'traumatized.'  'Nobody can sleep at night. We sleep together. We don't want to be home,' she added. The family believes that Johnson may know somebody who lives in their apartment complex, and this gave him the knowledge needed to sneak inside.  They told police he stole some of their belongings, including phones and a purse.   The 18-year-old said the horror unfolded as she slept in her family home in Kensington, Philadelphia, at about 5am on June 4.
