A spokesman said: "Officers are particularly keen to speak with a group of women who alerted first responders to the girl after becoming concerned for her welfare."
The force confirmed the girl’s family had been informed and were being supported by specialist officers.
They reiterated the public should not speculate as it could have a “significant impact” on the family and friends involved.
A spokesman for the festival said they were supporting the police with their investigation.
They said: “As soon as the individual became unwell, they were immediately attended to by our on-site security and medical teams.

“Paramedics and medical personnel provided emergency care at the scene and did everything they could to help.”
They added the team was “deeply saddened” by the death of the girl and expressed “deepest sympathy” to her loved ones.
Kendal Calling is in its 21st year and was once a small festival that could only hold 900 people.
Now the event hosts around 40,000 people every single year.
Headliners at this year's event include Biffy Clyro, Wolf Alice, Two Door Cinema Club and The Kooks.
It takes place at Lowther Deer Park, near Penrith, with artists taking to 13 different stages.
