Additional details were not immediately released. The boat, carrying three people, was traveling to Galveston’s Yacht Basin when the incident occurred. Authorities were called after the boat became disabled in the water. The Coast Guard said the boy’s father was able to provide a tourniquet until help arrived. The boat the teen was on may have gone several hours offshore before turning back to the yacht basin, NBC affiliate KPRC in Houston reported.
