Matthew David Eagleton, 54, was arrested on Friday and charged with two counts of possessing child abuse material after a police raid at Amity College's Auburn campus, in Sydney's west. Detectives received a report of the unlawful and offensive sexual material on Thursday and conducted a search at the non-denominational school. Officers seized Eagleton's electronic devices which allegedly contained the child abuse material. Police also allegedly found a small amount of cannabis in his vehicle. Under the bail conditions, he is banned from entering any school or centre for children under 16 and is required to report daily to a police station in Sydney's inner-west The 54-year-old will next appear before Downing Centre Local Court on August 18. Amity College is a non-denominational school with four campuses across Sydney and more than 2600 students between kindergarten and year 12. A school spokesperson declined to comment when asked whether any children enrolled in the school had been affected by Eagleton's alleged conduct. The spokesperson also did not respond to a query about whether any assistance would be provided to students, parents and staff.
