Tare: ‘Milan have many great strikers, Leao important for us’
Milan director Igli Tare explains the surprising new strike partnership against Napoli and insists Rafael Leao ‘is a very important player’ despite this season’s problems.

It kicks off at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona at 19.45 UK time (20.45 CEST).
This is a crucial moment in the season, as whoever wins will be in a position to challenge leaders Inter going into the final seven rounds.
Tare stands up for Leao and Milan

“These are two great teams, the table says so as well, we expect a spectacular game of football tonight,” Tare told DAZN Italia.
“Looking at the Juventus victory too, the table is closing up and a victory would be fundamental for us this evening.”
Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic are not at 100 per cent, so rather than risk them, Allegri has launched a new strike pairing of Niclas Fullkrug and Christopher Nkunku.
“We have many excellent strikers, it is a deep squad for this reason, so there is nothing surprising about these choices. The best thing for Allegri today is that he has a lot of options to choose from.
“I generally try to look more to the top than over my shoulder, playing in a stadium with this atmosphere, there is nothing better for a player. We must try to do everything possible to win tonight.”
Leao has struggled as a False 9 and would perhaps prefer to be on the left wing, but how has his season been overall?
“We seem to talk about Leao every week, but his quality is beyond doubt,” replied Tare.
“His problem is that he suffered a lot of injuries this season that never allowed him to express himself in the best way. He was out for two weeks, had a couple of days training with the team, we brought him along because he can make the difference off the bench too.”

Will these setbacks affect the future of a player like Rafael Leao?
“He has a contract for another two years, he is a very important player for Milan,” concluded the director.
These sides have already met twice this season, Milan winning 2-1 in Serie A in September despite the Pervis Estupinan red card, but then Napoli emerged 2-0 winners in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final.
