Taha Akgül, şampiyonanın ardından basın mensuplarına değerlendirmelerde bulundu. Hakan Büyükçıngıl'ın şampiyonanın son gününde ağır sıklette üçüncü olduğunu hatırlatan Akgül, "Burada Hakan'ın kazandığı bronz, gerçekten altın madalya değerinde. Onun şampiyon olacağına yürekten inanıyordum. Özellikle Rus rakibini yendiğimizde önünün açıldığını düşündüm. Yarı finalde yenildiği Azerbaycanlı rakibi tecrübeli bir güreşçi, bu yıl da şampiyon oldu. 3-1 kaybettik ama o maçta üstün taraf bizdik." diye konuştu. "Bu madalyanın geleceğine zaten çok emindim." diyen Akgül, şöyle devam etti: "Ağır sıklette artık kendimizi göstermemiz gerekiyordu. Benden sonra geçen yıl madalya alamamıştık. Ama bu sene ilk madalyayı alarak kendisini gösterdi. Hakan'a burada artık madalya yetmez. İnşallah seneye şampiyon olacak. Fatih (Altunbaş) yine aynı şekilde. Bunu yürekten söylüyorum. Serbest stilde 4 madalya maçı yaptık, 1 madalya aldık ama geçen seneye göre güreş anlamında arada uçurumlar var. Çocuklarımız gerçekten o kadar gençler ki... Güzel mücadele ettiler. Fatih, Rus rakibine son anda kaybetti. İnşallah Fatih'in, Avrupa ve dünya şampiyonu olduğu günü de göreceğiz. Gelişime açık olmalarını görmek bizi mutlu ediyor. 22-23 yaşlarında bunları yapabiliyorlarsa demek ki onlara yeni bir şeyler katabildiğimizde daha iyi yerlere gelecekler." Son maçta madalyanın gelmesiyle sevinçli bir şekilde bu salondan ayrıldıklarını vurgulayan Taha Akgül, "Buradaki mücadeleler çok değerliydi. Çok mutlu ayrılıyorum. Madalyayla kapatmak çok değerliydi. Grekoromen ve kadınlar çok başarılı geçti. Serbestte zaten böyle bir sonuç bekliyorduk. Ama madalyasız dönmek bizi çok üzerdi." ifadelerini kullandı. Serbest stil kadrosunda yaşanan değişimle ilgili soru üzerine Akgül, "Rotasyon tutacak Allah'ın izniyle. Çünkü şu anda diğer ülkeler bu değişimi çoktan tamamladı. Biz, olimpiyat sonrası yenilenmeye gittik. Grekoromen ve kadın takımımız tecrübeli ama serbestte bu değişime ihtiyaç vardı." değerlendirmesini yaptı. Hakan Büyükçıngıl'dan umutlu olduklarını dile getiren Akgül, şunları kaydetti: "Mirasçımız geliyor. Biraz daha mütevazı olmak istiyorum. Şu an çok eksikleri var. Üç seviye var diyelim, alt sınıf, orta sınıf, üst sınıf. Şu anda orta sınıfın üstlerine doğru yavaş yavaş çıkıyoruz. Üst klasmana doğru gitmemize biraz zaman var. Üst klasmana gittiğimizde Zare, Petriashvili seviyesine çıkacağız inşallah. Onun için de biraz zamana ihtiyaç var. Hakan daha gelişime açık. Hakan'a hatta 'Bir hafta dinlen sonra hemen ağırlık antrenmanlara başla.' dedim. Onunla bu saatten sonra artık daha özel ilgileneceğiz."
