Sydney homeowner relists his luxury townhouse with eye-watering price drop - but it comes with a 'real life soap opera' and strata chaos

Published: 00:11, 4 August 2026 | Updated: 00:12, 4 August 2026 A Sydney homeowner who went viral last year after listing his property for sale with a brutally honest account of the 'real life soap opera' between feuding neighbours has now relisted the home - with a striking new warning. Christopher, who is selling without an agent, relisted his three-bedroom waterfront townhouse in Glebe on Saturday, with an asking price of $999,999. It is a significant reduction from $3.8 million, the asking price when it was first listed in February 2025. But it was not just the price drop that caught the eye of buyers. It was Christopher's blunt warning to 'buy the dream... inherit the nightmare'. In Christopher's distinctive tongue-in-cheek style, he used the latest listing to warn potential buyers the sale would come with 'one beautiful terrace', 'one advanced diploma in strata law' and 'enough legal correspondence to keep a small forest employed'. 'Have you ever looked at a beautiful terrace in Glebe and thought, "This is nice... but I wish it came with a little more emotional trauma",' Christopher wrote in the Domain listing. 'Well… today's your lucky day. This isn't just a home. It's an experience. 'For nearly $4million, we thought we'd purchased our forever home. Turns out we'd actually enrolled in an unlimited subscription to 'Strata - The Never Ending Story'.' Christopher has relisted his three-bedroom waterfront Glebe home for just $999,999  He said he would 'take just about anything' price-wise to get the property off his hands  But, there's a catch. Christopher warned buyers the home would come with 'emotional trauma' Christopher also warned buyers that any 'simple' repair would involve multiple meetings, consultants, engineers, lawyers and reports before the problem would be looked at.  'Everybody agrees something needs fixing. Nobody agrees how,' he wrote. 'Twelve months later… everyone meets again to discuss why nothing happened. It's beautiful. Tradition is important.' In an attempt to sell the property, Christopher appealed to interested buyers, saying he would 'take just about anything' on price.  He added that the home would suit someone who 'enjoys reading agendas longer than most novels' or 'just loves a challenge'. 'Because the biggest surprise in strata usually isn't hidden behind the walls... it's hidden in the paperwork. Good luck. You'll need it,' he said. It is understood Christopher bought the terrace for $2.9million in February 2024. However, he said things became so bad within the townhouse complex that he listed the property just one year later with the now-viral description. The three-bedroom, two-bathroom property was meant to be Christopher's forever home  'If you've ever dreamed of living in a real-life soap opera, congratulations - this is your chance,' he wrote in 2025. 'None of the neighbours get along. Every meeting turns into a battle of wills. Emails fly faster than pigeons.  'And if you like reading by-laws at midnight while people argue about waterproofing, you'll fit right in.' When the owners' corporation tried to get the owners to foot a $1million bill for terrace works, half a dozen owners took the corporation to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, he said. It was just one example of the protracted standoffs between owners within the complex, which Christopher claimed made for an icy living environment.  'Imagine going home, and every time you drive in, you're just getting death stares from everyone,' he said.  Despite the scathing listing, Christopher told the Daily Mail in November he had been inundated with calls, including from nine potential buyers.  What success he will have with the latest price drop is yet to be seen, but it is understood Domain has temporarily paused the listing while it reviews the advert.  'Property listings often reflect the personality and perspective of the advertiser, and this vendor has certainly taken an unconventional approach,' a Domain spokesperson told 7News. 'We are reviewing the listing and engaging with the advertiser regarding the content and details of the advertisement.' The advertisement remains active on realestate.com.au at the time of publishing.
