Gardaí confirmed they are aware of "the arrest of an Irish National in the United Arab Emirates". Kinahan is alleged to be the leader of the Kinahan crime group.The force stated the arrest "remains a matter for the authorities in the United Arab Emirates at this time", adding that the "arrest is another extremely important demonstration of the need for international law enforcement co-operation in tackling transnational organised crime". Dubai Police confirmed Kinahan was arrested on April 15.A Garda spokesman confirmed the arrest is in accordance with the extradition treaty between Ireland and the UAE, stating: "The arrest of the Irish National in Dubai remains a matter for the authorities in the United Arab Emirates at this time.
