Pilotlardan Rami Süleyman, saldırı emirlerini devrik rejimin lideri Beşşar Esed ve Savunma Bakanı'nın verdiğini ifade ederek, hedefleri faks aracılığıyla Hava Kuvvetleri Komutanlığından Tuğgeneral Ahmed Bellul'un ilettiğini belirtti. Başkent Şam'ın Doğu Guta bölgesinde 2013 yılında 1400'ü aşkın sivilin hayatını kaybettiği kimyasal saldırıyı düzenleyen pilot Rami Süleyman, Bilimsel Araştırma merkezinden takım elbiseli bir general ve bir albayın uçakların yüklenmesine eşlik ettiğini söyledi. Süleyman, "Bu nedir diye sordum. Vakum bombası olduğunu söylediler. 50 metre irtifadan saldırılması gerektiğini söylediler. Şaşırdım. Kalkış yaptım. Koordinatlara yöneldim. 25 metre irtifaya kadar indim. Bir insansız hava aracı da görüntülüyordu. Ben saldırdım ve bölgeden ayrıldım." dedi. Ertesi gün haberleri izlediğini belirten Süleyman, "Olayı gören bir kişi yanıma geldi ve 'Dün ne oldu?' diye sordu. Ne oldu dedim. Kimyasal saldırı oldu. Ben de gerçekten mi dedim." ifadelerini kullandı. Sorguyu yapan İçişleri Bakanlığı yetkilisi Nasır Halef'in "Bir kiliseye saldırı düzenleme emri geldiğinde ne yapıyordunuz?" sorusuna pilotlardan Savvan, "Saldırabilirim. Eğer saldırmazsam idam edilirim. Sadece ben değil. Annem, babam, çocuklarım, kardeşlerim de idam edilir. Herkes yaşamak ister." ifadelerini kullandı. Suriye'de "Guta'nın Düşmanı" olarak tanınan Savvan, Sin, Dumeyr ve Halhale havalimanlarından kalkan uçaklarla Suriye'nin güneyindeki Dera, Kuneytra, Duma, Guta bölgelerinin bombalandığını söyledi. Sorgu esnasında sivil hedeflere saldırı düzenlemeleriyle ilgili soruya ise Savvan, "Görev normal gibidir. Hedef geldi. Uçaklar kalktı. Vurdu, geri geldi. Hedefin ne olduğunu bilmezdik. Verilen görevler yapılırdı."dedi. İçişleri Bakanlığı yetkilisi Halef'in "Saldırıları düzenlediğiniz de size hediye verilir miydi? sorusuna da Savvan," Görev tamamlandığında ödül verilirdi. Katliam da olsa ödül verilirdi." şeklinde cevap verdi. Halef'in, "Doğu Guta katliamcısı" nitelemesinde bulunması üzerine Savvan, "Hayır ben bu suçlamaları kabul etmiyorum. Ben görevlere gönüllü olarak katılmıyordum. Ben hastane hedef almadım. Ben koordinatları hedef aldım." dedi. İçişleri Bakanlığı yetkilisi Halef, son olarak katliamları gerçekleştiren pilotlara adil bir yargılama yapılacağını kaydetti.
