By KYLIE STEVENS, SENIOR BREAKING NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA Published: 12:25, 26 May 2026 | Updated: 12:25, 26 May 2026 Shocking footage has emerged of an elderly customer lying injured inside a busy Coles supermarket after he was allegedly pushed to the ground during an argument with an employee. A shocked witness claimed that the man, aged in his 80s, returned to Coles Broadway in inner-city Sydney on Monday after purchasing a cake that he was charged full price for, instead of the advertised discount. The shopper told 7news.com.au that the customer approached a male Coles employee about the issue but was allegedly told to 'go away' and that there was nothing he could do it. 'I just want the discount. Can you refund me?' the customer asked. The shopper claimed the dispute continued for 5-10 minutes before he heard a commotion and saw the elderly man fall heavily to the ground. Footage of the aftermath of the incident showed the unidentified man lying on the ground, and a Coles worker standing near him as other staff coming to assist. Shocked bystanders watched on and the shopper claimed the staff member allegedly involved walked away immediately afterwards. The shopper went to help the injured customer, who had blood on his hand from a minor cut. An elderly customer ended up on the ground after an alleged argument with a Coles employee Coles is now investigating the alleged incident at Coles Broadway in inner-city Sydney The elderly man, who appeared to be in pain, told the shopper that he 'didn't feel very good', and likely needed an X-ray. Coles confirmed that the supermarket is now 'reviewing the circumstances' of what happened. 'We are aware of an incident at our Broadway store and are looking into it as a priority,' a spokesman told Daily Mail.  'The safety and wellbeing of our customers and team members are very important to us, and any incident of this nature is taken seriously. 'As this matter is still being reviewed, it would not be appropriate to comment further on the situation.' The incident is yet to be reported to NSW Police, a spokeswoman told Daily Mail.
