Suella Braverman has despaired at the "demonisation" of patriotism in Britain as she unveiled plans for a "patriotic curriculum" across the country's schools.

Speaking to GB News from the CPAC GB conference in London, the Reform UK MP argued white working-class boys are being "betrayed".

She said: "I was really honoured to talk about the plight of white working class children, in particular white working class boys.

"They are the the least privileged in our society, there's no other way of putting it."

The party's education spokesman stressed white working-class boys are currently the "most likely to end up in prison" compared to other demographics.

Mrs Braverman explained: "They have the worst educational outcomes in our country, and they're more likely to end up as a NEET - that's a young person who's not in education, employment or training.

"They're more likely to end up in prison. Suicide is the biggest killer for men under 50, often many of those are from working-class backgrounds and society, I believe."

She highlighted the issue has prevailed in Britain for "decades" and a Reform UK Government would take action to rectify it.

She told GB News: "The establishment just wants to turn a blind eye to white working-class children who are failing in our education system.

"And for decades now, Insufficient opportunities have been provided to this valuable and precious cohort of our society, and I want to start talking about it.

"And I believe that Reform UK can provide solutions to giving opportunity and hope to this underprivileged group in our society."

Asked by Martin whether they would introduce a "grant system" to help these boys get into work, Mrs Braverman said: "The cause is partly the Equality Act, which Reform UK has been the only party to pledge that we will scrap it because it has institutionalised anti-white racism and anti-male sexism.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"It is because of the Equality Act that organisations like the NHS or the RAF or the Bank of England can offer internships and training opportunities to ethnic minorities exclusively, and they can actively discriminate against white working-class boys, and that is allowed by the Equality Act in law. That is a disgrace."

Mrs Braverman also pointed to the issue becoming prevalent in schools, where they are teaching white working-class boys about "toxic masculinity" and "patriarchy".

She told GB News: "The other thing I talk about is a lack of esteem in our classrooms. We've got too many of our schools which are teaching about toxic masculinity and how we need to defeat the patriarchy.

"How being proud of being British is somehow racist, how the Saint George's flag is racist, how British history was evil. How our great writers were too white."

The Reform UK MP concluded: "I met a child who said that they couldn't wear a Union Jack outfit to celebrate their culture on their school's culture day. So we are demonising Britain, we are demonising masculinity, and we are demonising patriotism.

"And that is why we would roll out a patriotic curriculum. We would oblige every school to fly the flag and we would offer meaningful opportunities to young boys and girls from the working classes, technical education, vocational education, and high-quality apprenticeships.

"They have been overlooked for years, but they are the path to self-sufficiency. Getting a wage, getting a job, moving on in life as opposed to being abandoned to the scrapheap."

In a statement, a Government spokesman told GB News: "The Equality Act 2010 is one of the most significant achievements in modern British history. It is the quiet guardian in millions of ordinary people's daily lives.

"This Government will uphold and protect it, not weaken it. It is the legislation that stops bosses overlooking pregnant qualified workers for promotion or discriminating against interview candidates due to race or sexuality. It's why shops and transport must adapt for wheelchair users, and why business owners can never turn you away based on your faith."
