Stuart Hogg finally sells home...but only after shamed rugby star slashes £300k from price

The former Scotland captain, 34, and his ex-wife Gillian put the five-bedroom property in Hawick, Roxburghshire, on the market after their bitter split. They advertised it for offers in the region of £850,000 last April but reduced that figure several times to try to get a sale over the line and it was most recently marketed for offers over £575,000.  The house is now listed as ‘sold subject to conditions’ on the estate agent’s website. A sales brochure for the house said it offered a ‘unique opportunity to equestrian and countryside enthusiasts’ or those ‘looking to take advantage of a more peaceful way of life’. It added: ‘The property has been tastefully refurbished throughout and is offered for sale in turn key condition with many pleasing and stylish features internally.’ Hogg admitted a five-year course of domestic abuse against his wife in 2024 and was sentenced to a community payback order with one year of supervision as an alternative to jail. He was later banned from contacting his ex-wife. He sparked fury after blaming alcohol and antidepressants for his domestic abuse and said he had made a mistake quitting the game to save his marriage. He remains one of Scotland’s all-time leading try scorers and was awarded an MBE in the 2024 New Year honours list for services to rugby union but was stripped of the title earlier this year. He came out of retirement in 2024 to sign a two-year contract with Montpellier.
