Good morning and welcome to our coverage.
Labour leadership hopeful and former Health Secretary, Wes Streeting has ctriticised Sir Keir Starmer’s government claiming voters don’t have an understanding the Prime Minister’s vision for the country.
Speaking to The Times, Streeting explained why he resigned and said he now feels “liberated”.
“I don’t think people get him. I don’t think they have any kind of emotional connection to him,” he said. “And I don’t think they understand who he is or why he wants to be prime minister and what his vision for the country is.”
Despite acknowledging the level of anger towards Starmer is disproportionate, Streeting added that there was a “substance problem with the government”.
