States back Cuba, Russia ready to help — deputy foreign minister
MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. A significant part of the global community has expressed solidarity with Cuba in this difficult period, and Moscow will continue to provide the necessary assistance to Havana, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told TASS Analytical Center. "I am sure that many members of the global community that promote multilateralism and the restoration of stability at the international level stand in solidarity with Cuba in this difficult period. We are committed to providing the necessary assistance to Havana, and we will continue to offer it," Ryabkov noted. Moreover, the deputy foreign minister added that Moscow is aware of the seriousness of the current situation and the challenge of resolving socio-economic issues in Cuba. The situation with fuel in Havana has worsened following the US-led military operation in Venezuela on January 3 to capture President Nicolas Maduro. Venezuela was one of the main oil suppliers to Cuba. On January 29, the US signed a decree that enabled Washington to impose tariffs on exports from states supplying oil to Cuba. It was previously reported that the US was not against occasional oil supplies to Cuba for humanitarian reasons by Russia and other countries.المصدر: TASS | Source: TASS
