Emergency services raced to the scene in Paisley, Renfrewshire, after being alerted to the incident on Saturday afternoon. A six-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene in the town’s Johnston Street while another girl, aged seven, was taken to hospital. Her condition is unknown. Detectives have now launched an investigation into the death, and have urged anyone who saw the tragedy to contact them. A six-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene in Paisley today Sergeant Jack Swindles said: ‘At around 5.30pm on Saturday, April 25, police received a report of two children being struck by a car on Johnston Street, Paisley. ‘Emergency services attended and a six-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. ‘A seven-year-old girl was taken to hospital for treatment.’ The police officer said that the force’s ‘thoughts are with the family of the girl who died’. Mr Swindles added: ‘We would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to please call police on 101, quoting reference 2786 of April 25.’ No comments have so far been submitted.
