Six people arrested during England's opening World Cup win against Croatia

Six people have been arrested during England's World Cup win against Croatia.

Among those arrested was one person facing a criminal trespass charge, following witness accounts that numerous supporters had bypassed security measures and gained entry to the venue without proper checks.

The remaining five arrests covered a range of offences, including drug-related charges, intoxication in public, and the sale of counterfeit merchandise.

Arlington Police confirmed that none of the six people arrested held British nationality.

Officers also attended two separate altercations inside the stadium during the match, though neither confrontation led to any further arrests.

Police stated that stadium staff typically handle "unruly" spectators before calling for assistance from officers, noting that security personnel often resolve incidents without police intervention.

Surveillance drones monitored the crowds while officers patrolled the stadium perimeter on segways in the hours preceding kick-off.

Fifa stated that it was unaware of supporters gaining access to the stadium without tickets.

The security concerns echo events at Wembley Stadium during the Euro 2020 final, when thousands of ticketless supporters forced their way into the ground.

A subsequent review conducted by Baroness Louise Casey determined that lives had been endangered during that breach.

Tailgating at football matches has since become a criminal offence in the UK following the Wembley incident.

England got off to a fantastic start yesterday, beating Croatia 4-2, with Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford getting on the scoresheet.

Thomas Tuchel was full of praise for captain Kane who stood-out in the first half, bagging a couple of goals.

He said: "If you see the commitment of our captain, of our number nine, in the extra time to block a crucial shot after a set piece with all his body and his commitment to buy into a defensive action like this, then you know everything about his performance today.

"Complete performance, absolute leader, and he is all in – he's all in physically, he's all in mentally, and he's all in."

The German was also full of praise for Bellingham, who put England in front in the second half.

Tuchel explained: "You can rely on Jude in these moments.

"He loves these pressure games. That brings out the best in him, so that's an easy decision to let him play and to trust him.

"Also, because of the last 16 days, 17 days, how he bought into the idea of team spirit and brotherhood, and into the idea of how we want to play football, which is slightly different to his position in Real Madrid.

"The tough, tough decision was today to say to Morgan Rogers that he will not start because he deserves 100 per cent to start, and he did ever so well for us and then for me. I think Jude was very reliable and did his very best to be a top team player for us."
