Lisesi'ndeki silahlı yaralama olaylarıyla ilgili, Siverek Devlet Hastanesi'ndeki yaralıları ziyaret etti. Şıldak, hastane çıkışındaki gazetecilere yaptığı açıklamada, şüphelinin okula girip rastgele ateş etmesi sonucu üzücü bir olayın yaşandığını söyledi. Olayda 16 kişinin yaralandığını anlatan Şıldak, "16 yaralıdan 4'ü öğretmen, 10'u öğrenci, biri polis memuru ve biri kantinci. Şükürler olsun can kaybımız yok. İkisi öğretmen, ikisi de öğrenci olmak üzere 4 yaralımızın sağlık durumları orta seviyede değerlendirildiği için il merkezindeki hastanelerimize sevk ettik. Şu anda diğer 12 yaralımızın tedavisi Siverek Devlet Hastanesinde sürüyor." dedi. Olayın çok yönlü olarak araştırıldığına dikkati çeken Şıldak, şunları kaydetti: "(Saldırgan) Okulun eski öğrencisi, sadece 9. sınıfta burada eğitim alıyor. Daha sonra açık öğretim lisesine kaydedilmiş bir eğitim süreci var. 2007 doğumlu olan şahıs polisin müdahalesiyle yakalanmak üzereyken yaşamına son verdi. Okulu tahliye ettik. Üzüntü duyduğumuz bu olayın evveliyatını da içerecek şekilde araştırılıp soruşturulacak. Tüm Siverek ve Şanlıurfa'mıza geçmiş olsun. Adli ve idari süreçler incelenecek. Okullarımızın güvenliği konusunda tüm tedbirleri almamıza rağmen böyle münferit hadiseler olabiliyor. Gereken inceleme yapılacak."
