EDF Energy, Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity, has revealed some homes could benefit from "free electricity on Sundays."‌In its guidance on how to cut bills, it highlights that customers can take "advantage of schemes like Sunday Saver, where you could earn free electricity on Sundays by reducing your electricity usage during peak times."‌EDF explains its Sunday Saver challenge allows customers to "earn up to 16 hours of free electricity on Sundays by shifting your electricity usage outside of peak times (4 pm to 7 pm, Monday to Friday)."‌Everyone who registers for the challenge will be given a goal to move some of their electricity consumption away from peak periods, typically 4pm to 7pm. The more you shift throughout the week, the more free electricity you can secure. For example, shifting 50% of your peak consumption could earn you up to 16 free hours the subsequent Sunday.How to take part in the Sunday Saver challengeTo participate, visit the Energy Hub in your MyAccount each month and register for the challenge. If you miss the deadline, you can request a Sunday Saver reminder, and the company will alert you when the next registration window opens.Before joining, ensure your smart metre sends readings every 30 minutes, or configure it to provide half-hourly readings. EDF warn: "Please note that challenges may not run every month. We'll keep you informed about when each challenge is available, and you'll need to sign up for each one when EDF is running it.&...
