A shopper has shown how to get a haul of free flowers, food, cosmetics and treats with a simple trick anyone can use. Cissy Jones marked her special day this month by making the most of a range of birthday freebies, managing to bag everything from food and flowers to luxury beauty treats for free. The 29-year-old enjoyed a Pizza Express pizza that would normally cost £15 for lunch, then for dessert, she headed over to Krispy Kreme for a doughnut worth £2. She bagged a bunch of roses from M&S that usually cost £4, a free £4.20 caramel latte from Starbucks and even a Boost smoothie valued at around £8 – all completely free. She also managed to get her hands on night serum, lip balm and a travel-size perfume at Space NK. By signing up to ‘birthday freebie’ schemes ahead of her big day, Cissy was able to eat and shop for free as she made the rounds collecting her birthday perks. “I do it every year,” said Cissy, from Manchester . “It’s something everyone can do each year. It’s super easy and super fun, especially if you live near a shopping mall because everything is in one building. “I had a great day. The M&S gift was my favourite, but Space NK was the most generous because I got a few gifts.” Cissy warned that not all birthday deals are completely free, with some requiring a minimum spend. Rituals required her to purchase a full-price item to receive free mini fragrance sticks, while Lindt asked her to spend £10 to unlock a complimentary box of chocolates, worth £6.50. She also advised shoppers to check the terms and conditions carefully, as redemption windows can vary. She said: “I’d recommend signing up a month before. You just sign up and show the staff at the counter the email on your birthday. “Show them that and they can’t turn you away. It’s on the M&S app and you scan at check out. It’s super easy. “Just make sure you read the terms and conditions with how long you have to claim. Some are on the day, some are three days before and three days after and some can be a month long. And sign up well before your birthday. I can’t imagine this works if you sign up the day before.”
