Shooter aimed to kill Trump, top US officials at media dinner

A gunman who attempted to breach a media dinner attended by Donald Trump intended to assassinate the president and other senior officials, investigators said, as questions mounted over security at the high-profile event. Trump, who was rushed out of the hotel ballroom in Washington by Secret Service agents, posted surveillance footage of the gunman attempting to sprint past a security checkpoint.
