Published: 00:46, 2 July 2026 | Updated: 00:54, 2 July 2026 This is the shocking moment a thug grabbed a dog by the head and flung it 6ft over a fence.  James Andrew picked up the tiny terrier which kicked its legs in 'distress' while he 'appears to be amused' – and threw him.  But he was caught on camera by neighbours who shouted at him from their window.  The neighbours called the police, who then alerted the RSPCA, the animal welfare charity.  Solicitor Kevin Withey, who represented the RSPCA at Bristol Magistrates' Court, said: 'He [Andrew] turns away, shows no interest in what may or may not have happened to that dog as a result of that behaviour.'  The dog called Boomer was found with crust around his eyes, scabs on his ears and was underweight. The RSPCA found there were a number of animals at the home, sleeping in crates without bedding in the kitchen, and the garden was covered in rubbish and poo. Mr Withey said: 'The house is by most people's measure in a rather disgusting state.' He said he worked with the military police where they dealt with dogs in such a way. But Mr Withey pointed out Boomer was a 'tiny terrier' and not a military dog. The court heard Boomer was thrown in a 'callous manner', causing him pain and fear. Andrew and his partner Claire Yvonne Malik, 42, both admitted an animal welfare offence on September 5 last year. Andrew also pleaded guilty to a second charge for the same offence after throwing an animal and not protecting it from pain, suffering or injury. The pair, who share five children, had Boomer for three years and said it was their daughter's dog and did not like men. Boomer, who was taken from the pair and rehomed, went from two kilos to three and a half kilos in under a month. In mitigation, Vanessa Popple said it was an 'isolated incident' and the couple, who had no previous convictions, had since cleaned up their house. She added the only 'active ill-treatment' had been by Andrew and Malik had not seen what he had done until the video was played in court. She said: 'When she [Malik] saw the video her reaction was quite apparent. She was appalled at what she'd seen and didn't condone it.' She said the relationship came to an end but the pair still live at the same address where they care for three of their young children. The court heard the pair, of Privet Drive, Bristol, no longer have animals at home. The couple, who do not work and are on benefits, were both fined. Malik was ordered to pay £568, while Andrew was ordered to pay £680. Malik, who the court heard did not mistreat her cat, was disqualified from keeping dogs for five years and cannot apply to change it for three years. Andrew was disqualified from keeping any animals for 10 years and cannot apply to change it for seven years. He smiled as he left the court. No comments have so far been submitted.
