Shameless illegal immigrant who re-entered the US despite being deported THREE times allegedly kills adorable six-year-old girl who only wanted to be a ballerina

By EMMA RICHTER, US SENIOR NEWS REPORTER Published: 19:03, 29 July 2026 | Updated: 19:05, 29 July 2026 An illegal immigrant who re-entered the US after being deported three times allegedly killed a precious six-year-old girl who dreamed of becoming a ballerina, officials said.  Jamie Santiago-Corona, 33, was indicted by a grand jury on July 22 on illegal re-entry of a previously removed alien after he was arrested for running a stop sign and causing a deadly crash on July 3 in Pitt County, North Carolina, federal prosecutors said.  Corona, from Mexico, t-boned a car that was being driven by Kelli Toler while she took her son and older daughter, Calli Toler, to get lunch before spending the day at the pool, according to a GoFundMe page.  Calli was pronounced dead at the scene, while her mother and four-year-old brother were left with serious injuries, officials said.  The suspect, who also goes by Jamie Guzman Corona, was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, among other offenses, by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol after the crash.  Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) also issued a detainer on Corona and asked the state officials to keep him in custody.  He was deported three times before, including on October 9, 2019, June 12, 2023, and again on June 17, 2024, according to the US Attorney's Office.  If convicted of the federal illegal re-entry charge, he faces a maximum penalty of two years in federal prison, followed by deportation.  Calli Toler, six, was pronounced dead at the scene after an illegal immigrant from Mexico t-boned her mother's car on July 3 in Pitt County, North Carolina, prosecutors said Jamie Santiago-Corona, 33, was indicted by a grand jury on July 22 on illegal re-entry of a previously removed alien. He re-entered the US three times before, prosecutors said A friend who started the online fundraiser for the family said Calli's parents have been left heartbroken, and now have to bear unexpected fees for her funeral, medical bills, and more.  'No parent should ever have to bury their child and no family should have to carry the weight of overwhelming financial burden while recovering and going through such profound grief,' the page read.  As of Wednesday afternoon, nearly $44,000 had been raised for the grieving family.  Calli attended Chicod Elementary School in Greenville and has been described as someone 'who smiled and danced through life,' her obituary read.  Other than dancing, she also loved to go to church, do arts and crafts, play T-ball, cuddle, and more, it continued.  She also loved to play with her little brother, play with her pet bunny named BunBun, and the family's dog named Dixie.  Calli was also remembered in a heartbreaking Facebook post that shared she was cousins with a dance teacher at her school.  'Calli was a bright, joyful presence in our studio- her smile, her kindness, and her love for dance touched everyone around her.  Other than dancing, Calli (pictured with her parents) also loved to go to church, do arts and crafts, play T-ball, cuddle, and more, it continued Calli attended Chicod Elementary School in Greeneville and has been described as someone 'who smiled and danced through life,' her obituary read 'Calli was not only one of our dance family members, but cousin to our own Ms. Erica. Losing someone so young and full of light is a tragedy that weighs heavily on all of us,' the dance team said.  Other dance students and their families were encouraged to 'wear something bright, sparkly, or simply something that makes them feel connected to her spirit- full of light, love & fun and spread joy- just as she did in both our studio and on stage' after her death, the post read.  A funeral service was held for her on July 10 in Vanceboro, followed by a burial.
