Serial predator, 40, who is accused of murdering two women and raping a third 'carried out a string of sex attacks on Tube', court hears

Simon Levy, 40, sexually assaulted 10 women while travelling on the Tube network around London before allegedly going on to murder and rape sex workers. The Old Bailey heard that the partially blind defendant repeatedly sexually assaulted women on the London Underground between October 2023 and May 2025 while he was under the supervision of probation and violent sex offender monitoring teams. Six of those attacks occurred in the period last year when Levy is accused of murdering two women and leaving a third victim for dead after smothering her during a rape. When police arrested the defendant last April, they discovered thousands of newspaper clippings on notorious killers and rapists at his home, including reports about black cap rapist John Worboys, paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and rapist Harvey Weinstein. A stack of stories cut out from newspapers focused on serial killers, child rapes and terror attacks like the Manchester Arena bombing. Jurors were also told that Levy watched clips on YouTube about controversial influencer Andrew Tate and Donald Trump. He spent time googling Tube maps and carried out multiple searches about sex including, 'my mum told me I should see a prostitute', it was said. The court heard the defendant was first convicted of sexual assault in September 2021 after he followed a woman at a party in Camden Market before he grabbed her with force, thrusting his hand in her underwear on July 29, 2018. He was also convicted of assault by penetration after attacking a victim he had met on the tube to Notting Hill Carnival, putting his hand down her trousers three to four times, the court was told. While in prison Levy sexually assaulted a female prison officer at HMP Brixton grabbing her bottom as she walked past on April 14, 2022. In total he carried out 13 sex attacks between 2018 and 2025, it was said. Described by Tom Little, KC, as a 'predatory sexual attacker', Levy allegedly went on to rape and smother a sex worker in January last year. The 35-year-old, who survived the attack, told police she thought she was going to die when Levy jumped on top of her breaking her clavicle before he suffocated her. Two months later Levy is accused of killing Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo in a stairwell of a disused block of flats in Southwark, south-east London, on March 17 last year. Levy was arrested on April 1, but he answered 'no comment' when asked about the death of the 53-year-old drug user, who had suffered a neck compression and facial injuries, the court was told. Police were shown footage of the accused wearing a Marvel Comics jumper featuring an image of Spiderman as he was arrested. He is accused of carrying out a second murder on August 24 last year. The body of Sheryl Wilkins was discovered behind a wall in a car park in Tottenham in the same location as the first rape attack, which is close to the defendant's home. The 39-year-old was found face down with 83 injuries to her face and head, upper body and arms and legs. When he was held for the second murder, Levy insisted: 'No, there was no murder.'
