"Doku" sergisi, yarın Kuzguncuk Kültür Evi'nde açılacak ve 23 Mayıs'a kadar görülebilecek. Sade Seramik atölyesine ve sergiye dair AA muhabirine açıklamalarda bulunan Balcı, liseyi güzel sanatlar lisesinde okuduğunu, üniversite ve yüksek lisans eğitimini de seramik alanında gerçekleştirdiğini söyledi. Balcı, yüksek lisans döneminde kurduğu Sade Seramik atölyesinde yaklaşık 12 yıldır eğitim verdiğini belirterek, pano, heykel ve doku üzerine kişisel üretimlerini sürdürdüğünü, öğrencileriyle uzun soluklu çalışmalar yürüttüğünü ve düzenli olarak hoca-öğrenci sergileri gerçekleştirdiklerini belirtti. Son 5 yıldır seramik çalışmalarında doku üzerinde odaklandığını dile getiren Balcı, şöyle konuştu: "Dokularla kendi tarzımı yakalamaya çalışıyorum. Seramikte aldığım eğitimde de gördüğüm kadarıyla genelde her hocanın kendine özel bir tarzı oluyor ama ben bizim kültürümüze ait bir şeyler yapmak istedim. Bu yüzden hem tasavvuftan hem de Türk kültüründen etkilendim ve İslami geometrik desenleri kendi doku tekniğimle birleştirip, stilize ederek yeni panolar ortaya çıkarmaya çalıştım. Sonrasında bu geometrik desenler biraz daha değişti, daha soyut bir hal aldı. Bir dönem de 'Arayış' serisi adlı bir çalışma yaptım. Bu seride de yine tasavvufta her insanın Allah'a olan ulaşma yolculuğunu anlatan bir yerden bakıp, dokularla onlarca insanı sembolize eden bir seri yapmaya çalıştım. Fakat çok farklı dokular olsa da hepsi bir noktada birleşiyordu. Son dönemde ise bizim geleneksel motiflerimizin üzerine dokularımı denemeye çalışıyorum." Seramiğin yolculuğunun ilk olarak bu topraklarda başladığına işaret eden Şeyma Balcı, "Seramik, birçok coğrafyada bulunuyor ama bizim topraklarımızda bu alanda çok zenginiz. Selçuklu ve öncesinde, sonra Osmanlı kültüründe seramik var. Bunları mutlaka iyi gözlemleyip, sentezleyip bugüne ait bir şeyler yapabiliriz diye düşünüyorum. Sadece belli bir dönem bu alan durulmuş ve seramiğe daha modern bakılıyor. Daha modern bakılabilir ama tamamen seramik geleneksel ve ilkel bir sanat." ifadelerini kullandı. Balcı, sanatta "tamamlanmışlık" diye bir kavram olmadığını, üretim yolculuğunu sürekli gelişen bir süreç olarak gördüğünü ve bu arayış halini sevdiğini ifade etti. Atölyesinde 4, 5 yıl eğitim alan öğrencilerinin yanı sıra bu sanata yeni başlayanların da olduğunu söyleyen Balcı, şunları kaydetti: "Onların kişisel yolculuğuna uygun olacak şekilde üretimler yapıyoruz. Aslında hepsi bir şekilde kendi tarzını da bulmuş oluyor. Sergi açmayı da bu yüzden önemli buluyorum. Çünkü seramik, hobi olarak algılandığında basit formlar, işler akla gelebiliyor. Ama biz burada seramiğin bir sanat olduğunu anlatmak için dönem sonlarında ya da iki yılda bir belli konularda sergiler açıyoruz." Şeyma Balcı, yarın açılacak doku temalı sergide bazı öğrencilerinin bitki dokularını, bazılarının ise daha soyut kavramlar üzerine çalıştığı bilgisini vererek, "Denizaltı temalı ve tasavvuf konusunda da çalışanlar oldu. Geleneksel sanatlarımızdan yola çıkarak onların dokularıyla ilgili çalışma yapanlar oldu. İnşaat mühendisi olan bir öğrencimiz mesela ev, şehir dokusu üzerine bir şeyler yaptı. Toplam 15 öğrenciyle yaklaşık 30 çalışmanın yer alacağı bir sergi olacak." dedi. Seramiğin aslında çok yönlü ve köklü bir geçmişe sahip bir sanat dalı olduğunun altını çizen Balcı, Selçuklu Devleti ve Osmanlı İmparatorluğu dönemlerinde günlük kullanım eşyalarından saray sanatına kadar geniş bir kullanım alanı bulduğunu anlattı. Balcı, Anadolu'nun farklı bölgelerinde geleneksel çömlekçiliğin halen sürdüğünü belirterek, bugün modern sanat içinde değerlendirilen seramiğin kültüre dışarıdan gelmiş bir unsur gibi algılanmasının doğru olmadığını, aksine bu alanda yerli ve köklü bir miras bulunduğunu sözlerine ekledi.
