The pilot of the single-seat aircraft was safely rescued by the US military. The officials did not provide further details on how the plane crashed.‌It comes as officials confirmed a US F-15E Strike Eagle - a two-member crew aircraft - was shot down over southern Iran following claims by Iranian media accompanied by images purporting to show debris from the jet. One person aboard the two-member crew aircraft has been rescued by American forces, two US officials told CBS News.
