'On the above-mentioned date, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police responded to a report of shots being fired at Gym Hill, Canouan. 'Upon arrival, officers discovered Daniel Vettrino, a 37-year-old Technical Services Manager of Colombia/Scotland, with multiple gunshot wounds about his body. He was subsequently pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer. Two men have reportedly been arrested in connection with the alleged shooting, it has been reported.  Family and friends have now paid tribute to Mr Vettrino, who has been described as a 'beautiful soul' and a 'true gentleman'. Robson Vettrino Kolberg, the victim's brother, said: 'It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my brother, Danny Vettrino.  'Much loved by everyone, a pure soul who only wanted success and happiness for all of those around him. 'He has touched the lives of so many people, from his hometown in Fife to all corners of this world.  'A unique individual, made up of so many qualities and quirks, especially his impeccable ability to drink anyone under the table. 'He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, the family are heartbroken by this loss and grateful for the love and support we have already received. 'We are all currently working hard for his safe return home and upon completion we will make arrangements for a chance for everyone to say their final goodbyes. 'I will make another announcement once we have these plans in place for all of those who want to attend. 'I hope you're somewhere up there drinking a pint of Guinness with Elvis. I love you.'  Mr Vettrino's friend, Laura Westwood, said: 'My heart is truly broken today to find out that my old pal who had the biggest of hearts, true gentleman and always smiling has passed away, you did not deserve this Danny love you so much, sleep tight buddy. You truly had the most beautiful soul.'  Dave Alston said: 'RIP Danny Vettrino, will always remember travelling from Egypt to Kirkcaldy Fife and seeing his photo above the bar in the Elbow Room titled "King of Karaoke."' Nicole Buckley said: 'Rest in peace Danny. You didn't deserve this, you were a good person.'  According to local media reports, Mr Vettrino worked with investors on the north of the Caribbean island as a technical services manager for hotel company Canouan Estate Resort and Villas.  It is understood that he had moved to Colombia in 2023 before joining the 'luxury' resort company in the Caribbean in 2024.  Mr Vettrino worked as an estate and property manager in Colombia from September 2023 to August 2024.  The 37-year-old's LinkedIn account, posted on the networking site last year, states that he began working for the hotel company in August of that year.  Before moving to Colombia he had worked in Egypt for nine years between 2015 and 2024.  In his CV, Mr Vettrino described himself as a 'management level certified professional with a vast amount of experience'.  He said: 'I am currently working in the Caribbean on luxury properties, managing the team and various trades under my direction and overseeing the day-to-day running of a resort whilst establishing friendly and professional working relationships with local vendors.'  Mr Vettrino's death is said to have brought the total number of homicides in St Vincent and the Grenadines to 19 this year, according to local reports.   Sorry we are not currently accepting comments on this article.
