Sam Ponder calls out the WNBA for cowardice: 'Be courageous. Stand for women'

Sam Ponder criticized the WNBA for not standing firm on defining what a woman is.

A recent meeting among WNBA team leaders focused more on online hate directed at players than on establishing eligibility rules for transgender athletes.

Ponder emphasized the importance of clear boundaries in sports to ensure fair competition, citing public support for her views on women’s sports.

Former ESPN host Sam Ponder called on the WNBA to show courage, stand for women and girls, and define what a woman is.

On Wednesday, a league task force of team presidents and general managers met and discussed transgender athletes but failed to establish any eligibility rules.

However, a source familiar with the league and the meeting told Fox News that the meeting "focused significantly on the hate and vitriol being directed at WNBA players online."

The WNBA is still more concerned with random trolls allegedly sending mean tweets to its players than actual issues.

The topic of transgender athletes in female athletics has become an issue, as players, coaches, media members and fans have scolded Fever forward Sophie Cunningham for acknowledging in a profile that protecting female sports is important to her.

EX-ESPN HOST SAYS SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM DESERVED TO BE EJECTED AND PUNISHED — NOT DIJONAI CARRINGTON, WHO CLOTHESLINED HER

Sam Ponder was a vocal advocate for protecting women's sports during her final years at ESPN. She and fellow former ESPN anchor Sage Steele were the only public advocates for the cause at the network. ESPN fired Ponder nearly two years ago this week.

Sources tell OutKick that Ponder's opposition to males competing against females did not help her cause, but that her salary was the leading reason for her exit.

On Thursday, after a nearly one-year absence from social media, Ponder posted the following message on X:

"The WNBA should be courageous. Stand for women. You can't stand for something you can't even define. Acknowledge that the inherent differences between men and women were the whole reason we needed the WNBA in the first place.

"Boundaries, clarity and exclusion are not hateful in sport... they're the prerequisite to playing and loving the game. Without the lines, without the rules, without the honesty about who's in and who's out, there is no fair competition."

Expect the usual suspects to target Ponder for her perspective, like Nancy Armour, Sarah Spain, Jemele Hill, Cari Champion, Cindy Brunson, Monica McNutt and Katie Nolan.

Not only does this group want to discredit anyone who doesn't want to force little girls to change in a locker room next to males, but they are also vividly jealous of attractive White women. Ask Sophie Cunningham.

By the way, Ponder is right. She has been right from the start. Most of the country agrees. Recent Gallup polling found that nearly 80% of adults disapprove of biological males competing in female athletics.

Sam Ponder is just one of the few people in sports media willing to say it.
