Local authorities, including Sir Sadiq Khan's City Hall, have recommended a controversial charity's asylum toolkit to help illegal migrants secure UK residency claims with the Home Office, GB News can exclusively reveal.

An investigation conducted by the People's Channel found the Greater London Authority, Ealing Council and Hertfordshire County Council all highlighted services provided by the non-governmental organisation Right to Remain on their websites.

Part of the charity’s toolkit includes social media videos that provide asylum system explainers for those having their claims heard by the Home Office.

The videos include step-by-step guides for the asylum interview process.

Right to Remain offers advice in a host of foreign languages, including Somali, Arabic, Pashto and Persian.

It describes itself as a group that “works with communities, groups and organisations across the UK".

In its description, the NGO admitted: "We provide information, resources, training and assistance to help people to establish their right to remain.

"We challenge injustice in the immigration and asylum system."

The Right to Remain website also claims migrants are "faced with a hostile environment denying them basic rights, and major obstacles to establishing their legal rights to stay".

In its 2023/24 impact report, it explicitly claims it is on a journey to a world in which “no one is illegal”.

The charity also mentions its campaigners wear T-shirts depicting this slogan.

In a submission to the Charity Commission, Right to Remain claimed its asylum toolkit was used by more than 300,000 people.

A linked campaign group, which Right to Remain claims to run, called These Walls Must Fall, describes itself as “a network of refugee and migrant campaigners working with allies and supporters for radical change”.

It also claims “we need a movement based on radical solidarity to counter the government’s racist hostile environment” and “the border enforcement regime is a racist system”.

Research Director at the Centre for Migration Control, Robert Bates, told Britain's News Channel: “Public bodies should be nowhere near this pro-open borders group, Right to Remain, and should certainly not be promoting its asylum toolkit.

"Whilst the vast majority of the British public want all illegal migrants detained and deported, it continues to be the tiny sect of anti-British volunteers that call the shots.

"As this exceptional research highlights, there is still a long way to go.”

In a statement, Right to Remain said: "Right to Remain’s Toolkit provides information about the immigration and asylum system based only on legal information published by the Home Office and other publicly available official sources.

"We present this information in plain English to help people understand the system. The Toolkit is publicly available online.

"Right to Remain is a registered charity and receives no Government funding.

"We are clear that the Toolkit provides general information and that we do not provide individual immigration or legal advice."

A spokesman for Hertfordshire County Council said: "Hertfordshire County Council does not endorse Right to Remain as an organisation, nor does it endorse the organisation's wider aims or campaigning activities.

"Where reference has been made to Right to Remain's asylum toolkit, this has been solely because it provides information about the UK asylum system that officers considered useful for educational and informational purposes."

GB News also contacted the Mayor of London's office and Ealing Council for comment.
