By JOE HUTCHISON, US SENIOR NEWS REPORTER Published: 06:40, 15 May 2026 | Updated: 06:49, 15 May 2026 Rudy Giuliani has revealed he had 'a very significant spiritual experience' while hospitalized with pneumonia.  The 81-year-old returned to his namesake online show on Wednesday from his home in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he said he was working towards a full recovery.  Giuliani said that he underwent what he described as an 'intervention' during his hospital stay involving his former top aide, who died in 2016. The former mayor of New York City said: 'There was a very significant intervention by my Peter, Peter J. Powers, my friend of my lifetime. 'Peter said some very significant words, and I made sure, as soon as I woke up, I started telling people, and then I recorded it in part.' Giuliani said he would speak more about the experience at a later date, saying he was reflecting on it and even spoke with a priest about it.  The staunch Trump ally continued: 'I don’t want to embellish it, and I don’t want to deny what was there, I wrote it down, and it’s quite beautiful.' After waking up he said he had his son Andrew record him talking as he spoke about what had happened while 'out of it'. The 81-year-old returned to his namesake online show on Wednesday from his home in West Palm Beach The long time Trump ally was admitted to hospital on May 3, the two are seen here in 2016 On his health, Giuliani said: 'I’ve been away a week and a few days, I had pneumonia. I’m in the middle of making a full and very complete recovery.  'I feel 100% and I’m probably not, I’m still recovering from what was a pretty serious bout of viral pneumonia', for which he was admitted to hospital for on May 3. His team said was made more serious by 9/11-related restrictive airway disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. So severe was his condition that Giuliani required a mechanical ventilator and a priest visited him to read him his last rites last Monday. He was moved out of ICU last Wednesday, with his primary care physician calling it a miracle.   'And all the prayers from around, it's like a miracle,' Dr. Maria Ryan said. 'This guy's got nine lives, today he's doing much better.'  Giuliani, who served as New York mayor from 1994 to 2001, was left with lasting health complications after the September 11 attacks. He has battled back from multiple health scares, including a broken back sustained in a car crash in New Hampshire last August. He was celebrated for a widespread crackdown on crime using the 'broken windows' philosophy and implementing the controversial stop and frisk program.  No comments have so far been submitted.
