Rs200m worth of liquor seized in joint maritime operation

The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) on Monday said it had confiscated foreign liquor worth Rs200 million during a joint intelligence-based operation in the Arabian Sea. According to a statement, a maritime interdiction operation led to the interception of a stateless vessel carrying a large quantity of illicit liquor concealed onboard and intended for unlawful distribution. “The operation was carried out through a coordinated effort by the Pakistan Navy, PMSA, Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre and Anti Narcotics Force (Sindh), demonstrating effective inter-agency collaboration and operational synergy,” said the statement. The seized contraband, with an estimated international market value of over Rs200m, represented a major disruption to smuggling networks operating in the region. The confiscated items were formally handed over to the ANF (Sindh) for further investigation and legal proceedings. A spokesperson for the maritime security said the operation was conducted as part of ongoing counter-narcotics efforts, adding that the success underscored the agencies’ resolve to combat smuggling, safeguard maritime boundaries and contribute to regional security.
