Royal Air Maroc Launches Direct Flights Between Tetouan and London
Casablanca – Royal Air Maroc has officially expanded its operations with the first direct air link between Tetouan and London.
According to Travel Weekly, the route between the two cities will operate twice a week – on Thursdays and Sundays. The service will be operated using the Embraer 190 aircraft, with a capacity of 96 seats.
The expansion forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen international connectivity and develop new routes. This initiative aims to improve accessibility to northern Morocco, supporting tourism growth and positioning the region as a more visible destination for international visitors.
“This new route marks an exciting milestone for Royal Air Maroc and for the growing relationship between the UK and Morocco,” said UK General Manager Zoubida Smahi, according to Travel Weekly.
The new direct link between the two cities reflect a broader effort to enhance Northern Morocco’s international connectivity and strengthen its position within the European travel network.
“By introducing direct flights between London Gatwick and Tetouan, we strengthen the appeal of the region for UK travellers while advancing our ambition to open northern Morocco to key European markets,” Smahi added.
“This connection will benefit a wide range of passengers – tourists seeking new cultural and coastal destinations, business travellers exploring emerging opportunities and members of the Moroccan diaspora looking for easier access to their home region.”
Smahi also highlighted the economic impact of this new route, pointing to opportunities of growth and new partnerships in northern Morocco.
“We are confident that this service will stimulate economic activity, encourage new partnerships, and highlight the natural beauty, heritage, and hospitality that northern Morocco has to offer,” she elaborated.
The addition of Tetouan’s Sania R’mel Airport link with London comes amid a wider network expansion by Royal Air Maroc.
In January, the airline launched a new Casablanca-St. Petersburg route. It has also expanded its connections with Spain – linking cities such as Casablanca, Tangier, Tetouan, Nador with Barcelona, Málaga, Alicante, and Bilbao.
With Morocco set to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Portugal and Spain, these airline expansions reflect a broader strategy to improve accessibility for fans, boost tourism, and support long-term economic growth.
