His side lost 3-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. This was Wolves’ 24th league defeat of the season and they have now conceded 66 goals, the second-worst tally in the division (Burnley have conceded 71). After the defeat, during which they went 1-0 down after 35 seconds, Edwards criticised some of his players and revealed that “change can begin” after the conclusion of the Premier League season on May 24. “They (players) have got to go,” Edwards told reporters at the Amex. “Have I not been clear with that? We’re bottom of the league, it’s been embarrassing. We know there’s going to be a lot of change. “At the moment, yes, it’s difficult. You’re coming to a team that is already light-years ahead of you anyway, so you know it’s going to be a difficult day. We’ve got to keep our heads down for another couple of games and then the change can begin. “We’ve got two more games. So, suck it up, keep our head down, take whatever we’re going to have to take for the next couple of weeks and then we can really get to work.” Edwards said he was prepared for “short-term pain” when he took on the Wolves job in November, with the club bottom of the table with just two points. He oversaw an improvement in results and performances but Wolves’ form has nosedived again in recent weeks, with four defeats and a draw since they returned from a lengthy break from action. On Friday, Edwards said he is “energised” about the future despite his side’s relegation and insisted the club’s desperate situation is not his fault.  Talking to the BBC after the defeat by Brighton, Edwards criticised Wolves’ “shocking start”, said players were “not doing their jobs” and called their defending “despicable”.
