Ricky Hatton's family in row with trustees over his £40 million fortune after boxing legend 'did not leave a will'

Trustees were appointed to manage Hatton's estate after he took his own life in September last year aged 46. But since then, sources close to the family have said that communications with the trustees have broken down with one claiming the situation is a 'complete mess'. The family also remain in the dark as to when and how his money will be distributed. It was thought that Hatton had left his fortune to his three children - Campbell, 25, and daughters Millie, 14, and Fearne, 12. But almost a year after his death, the children remain in the dark about their father's estate. One source told The Sun: 'The whole thing is a mess. 'It's been more than eight months since Ricky died and the family is no closer to finding out what's going on with his estate.' During his successful boxing career, Hatton used his fight earnings to finance a string of businesses with many reportedly connected to property investments in his hometown of Hyde, as well as in Leicestershire, London and Kent. Hatton's many investments mean his children will have a secure financial future. One source said that Hatton was 'determined to ensure that he had a financial legacy from his incredible career'. 'Everyone who knew and loved Ricky would give anything to have him back. But during his life he's done a great job of providing for the people he loved the most - his children' the source added. In a separate incident earlier this week, Hatton's car was torched in a 'targeted attack' outside his son Campbell's home in Tameside. Police and fire crews were called to a residential street in Hattersley, Hyde, after the blaze broke out on Monday night. The incident, which also saw a front window smashed, occurred the evening before a gas leak in the area.  A major investigation is now underway after the property's driveway was left charred and covered in burnt debris. In a post on social media, boxer Campbell Hatton said the vehicle was his late father's, former boxing world champion Ricky Hatton.  Campbell said: 'At around 11.40pm my dad's car got set on fire outside my house. 'CCTV of two lads look like they came through the valley in Hattersley to do it so anyone with any info or cameras that might have caught anything let me know 'Absolutely gutted the car was one of the only things I've got that was my dad's and a lot of sentimental stuff ruined. Need to get to the bottom of it I have a seven-year-old daughter who stays here.' Greater Manchester Police said they were called alongside fire crews to the blaze at around 11.45pm on Monday, June 29. Emergency services remained at the scene conducting investigations throughout Tuesday. No arrests have yet been made. 'Officers from our Tameside district are appealing for information after a vehicle was deliberately set on fire outside an address,' a spokesperson for the force said. 'We were called at 11.45pm to reports of a car which had been set on fire, officers attended the scene along with colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. 'No arrests have been made at this stage. 'It is believed to be a targeted attack with no wider risk to the public, and investigations are ongoing. 'Officers are now appealing to the public for their help as we continue to make enquiries into this incident.' Fire and rescue personnel were then called out on Tuesday morning to reports of a gas leak. 'Firefighters worked alongside partners from Greater Manchester Police and Cadent to make the area safe,' a spokesperson said. 'No injuries were reported and crews were on the scene for around four and a half hours.' Campbell previously revealed that the death of his father became a turning point in his life, saying it ultimately 'saved' him after he struggled with cocaine and alcohol addiction and was just weeks away from taking his own life. The 25-year-old has since sought treatment in rehab and recently announced his return to boxing after signing a multi-fight deal with Misfits Boxing. No comments have so far been submitted.
