His party won the most seats in the election on May 7 and he is leading Plaid Cymru in a minority government. While he has made a speech in the Senedd already – once when he was voted as First Minister and once to spell out priorities – this is the first time he will face questions from politicians across the chamber. First Minister's Questions is seen as the flagship moment of the weekly Senedd proceedings. The session starts at 1.30pm. In it he will face some questions which have been published in advance but follow-ups, and those from the opposition party leaders, are unknown to him. As leader of the opposition Dan Thomas, the Reform UK leader in Wales, will be challenging the Plaid leader for the first time. Topics we know he will be asked about include climate change, water pollution, education standards, social care, and safeguarding jobs in the hospitality sector. It's a chance for opposition politicians to try secure a win against the government by landing a question they can't answer, or can't answer satisfactorily. The format is this - the First Minister faces questions on any topic his Senedd colleagues wish. The main list of questions is published in advance but there are supplementary questions too which he doesn't know. The opposition leaders will then get their turn, led by Reform UK's Dan Thomas.
