Rhiannon Whyte's mother appeals to Andy Burnham for answers after Keir Starmer ignored her for two YEARS

The grieving mother of a hotel worker who was murdered by an illegal migrant has appealed to Andy Burnham for answers after being ignored by Sir Keir Starmer for two years.

Siobhan Whyte's daughter Rhiannon was stabbed 23 times with a screwdriver by HIV-positive Sudanese "asylum seeker" Deng Chol Majek in 2024.

After her daughter's killer was jailed, she issued multiple pleas to Sir Keir to hear her case - though they fell on deaf ears.

And now, the mother has turned her attention to Mr Burnham as he entered Downing Street earlier this week.

In an email to the Prime Minister, Ms Whyte said that she was "never acknowledged" by his predecessor and outlined the details of Rhiannon's death.

She added: "After a 15-month court case, he was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 29 years.

"I have reached out to numerous members of the Government and rarely had a response from anyone.

"My question to you is this - is it possible to arrange a face-to-face meeting with yourself so I can hopefully gain some answers into this?"

Ms Whyte also invited Mr Burnham to discuss her proposed "Rhiannon's Law" in the aftermath of her killer's sentencing.

The legislation would see illegal migrants living in hotels or HMOs given electronic tags, introduce medical checks to ascertain migrants' health status, as well as immediate vetting and criminal checks when they arrive in Britain.

After Labour was "unwilling to listen" to the grieving mother, she had hoped to secure the backing of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk to force the Government's hand.

"Hopefully they'll give this Government a shock because I know it can be done," she told GB News last month.

Ms Whyte added "I know these are two of the biggest figures in America. Just try and get our country to [act]. We're a joke."

"It's not about politics, colour, race, etc. I want help. I want answers."

But nearly two months on from her plea to the White House, her calls also appeared to have fallen on deaf ears across the pond.

Her concerns have, however, been picked up by Nigel Farage, who sat down to hear her devastating testimony in April.

"I think cases like this genuinely outrage the British public, as they should," he said.

“This murder, this death, was wholly unnecessary in every way,” the Reform UK leader added.

Responding to Ms Whyte, a Home Office spokesman has previously said: "The murder of Rhiannon White was an abhorrent crime and our thoughts are with her loved ones.

"This vile criminal is behind bars where he belongs, and he has rightly received the strictest punishment of a life sentence.

"We share the public's anger about the broken asylum system and hotels.

"That's precisely why we're doing everything we can to keep dangerous offenders out of the country and close down hotels."
