The much-loved bassist died at the property near Stockport, Greater Manchester, last November aged 63. His death came almost two years after his beloved wife Imelda died from cancer at the age of 52, tragically leaving the couple's twin teenage sons orphaned. Now, the family's imposing five-bedroom period residence has been listed for sale with a seven-figure guide price. The substantial semi-detached Victorian house, situated in the sought-after suburb of Heaton Moor, is described by estate agents as 'oozing charm and character'. Pictures taken inside the property reveal unmistakable traces of Mani's celebrated life in music, with guitars, framed mementoes and memorabilia connected to his beloved Manchester United still visible. Its four floors include five double bedrooms, three bedrooms and cellar rooms that appear to have been used by Mani as his own retreat, with piles of records, a guitar rested on an armchair and a portrait of former United striker Eric Cantona. The red-brick house, which was purchased by the Mounfields in 2014 for £470,000, is being marketed with no chain. The sale comes after an extraordinarily painful period for the couple's sons, Gene and George, who are now understood to be in the guardianship of their uncle Greg Mounfield. Mani, who played on both Stone Roses studio albums before later joining Primal Scream, died in his sleep at the address from respiratory issues linked to long-standing emphysema. Just 48 hours before his own death, he had posted a deeply moving tribute to Imelda on the second anniversary of her passing from stage-four bowel cancer. He wrote: 'Today marks the second anniversary of my Imelda's passing. 'We miss her every day, but we have learnt to adapt to her being in 'the next room'. 'We can't see or touch you, but we feel your presence every day. Rest well my love.' Mani's death prompted an outpouring of grief from friends, fellow musicians and generations of fans. Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, who was a close friend of the bassist, said he was in 'total shock' over the death of 'my hero'. Tributes were also paid by the likes of Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder and Joy Division bassist Peter Hook, while Mani's long-time bandmate Ian Brown posted: 'REST IN PEACE MANi X.'
