Reeling Mets put Kodai Senga on IL, call up Christian Scott

NEW YORK — With the club firmly in crisis mode, the New York Mets announced Tuesday they’ve placed struggling starter Kodai Senga on the 15-day injured list and summoned right-hander Christian Scott as his replacement.In the wake of his latest poor outing, against Colorado on Sunday, Senga underwent an MRI. His ERA is 9.00. In each of his past three outings, Senga failed to complete four innings. Against the Rockies, he allowed three hits, three runs and three walks (he also hit a batter) in just 2 2/3 innings. Senga utilized his fastball and forkball, his best pitches, more frequently than before, but it didn’t matter; the velocity on his fastball averaged 1 mph less than usual 96.1 mph.Advertisement
