Reduce wrinkles and slow down the ageing process with 3 daily cups of drink
Ageing is an inevitable part of life, but a popular beverage could hold the secret to preserving a youthful look. Scientists have pinpointed a specific drink that might help ward off wrinkles and potentially even turn back the clock on ageing. Research from China indicates that savouring a daily brew could deliver numerous health advantages. According to the researchers, three cups of tea a day represent the optimal amount to decelerate the ageing process. Black tea, specifically, is praised for its possible health perks, including supporting gut, heart, and brain health. The research was conducted at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China, with two groups of volunteers. The researchers examined 5,998 Brits aged between 37 and 73 and 7,931 Chinese volunteers aged 30 - 79. Volunteers were asked about their daily tea-drinking routines and the variety of tea they favoured, whether it was green, black, yellow or oolong, reports Surrey Live . The researchers then assessed various ageing markers such as cholesterol, blood pressure and body fat percentage to determine the volunteer's biological age. The study's authors stated: "The exposure-response relationship suggested that consuming around three cups of tea or six to eight grams of tea leaves per day may offer the most evident anti-ageing benefits." The researchers discovered that polyphenols, a compound present in tea, are crucial to its anti-ageing properties. Polyphenols, a bioactive substance contained in tea, are understood to influence the gut. This can impact age-related alterations in metabolism, immunity and cognitive function. It's important to note that tea is packed with antioxidants which can protect the skin from harm and decelerate the ageing process. The researchers didn't identify a particular variety of tea, but the study found negligible differences in ageing between black tea drinkers in the UK and green tea drinkers in China. Black tea can be purchased from Tesco for £1.35 for 80 tea bags. Alternatively, Asda stocks black tea for £1.24 for 50 tea bags.المصدر: Mirror | Source: Mirror
