Reds place Eugenio Suárez on IL, recall outfielder JJ Bleday

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds recalled outfielder JJ Bleday on Saturday to replace designated hitter Eugenio Suárez, who was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to April 23 with a mild left oblique strain.Bleday, 28, has carried his strong spring training into the regular season after not making the team’s Opening Day roster. In 24 games to start the season at Triple-A Louisville, Bleday hit .341/.462/.659 with 14 extra-base hits, including six home runs. Bleday hit .317 with four homers during spring training.Advertisement
