Red Sox name interim bench coach, announce other additions to overhauled staff

Two days after firing their manager and half their coaching staff, the Boston Red Sox have named three additions to the club.José David Flores, who had been the first-base coach and infield instructor, will now serve as interim bench coach alongside interim manager Chad Tracy.Pablo Cabrera, who’d been the minor-league infield/outfield defensive coordinator, will be the interim first-base coach and outfield instructor. Jack Simonetty, who’d been a hitting coach at the rookie level Florida Complex League, has been named interim hitting assistant alongside Collin Hetzler, who was moved into the hitting coach position on Saturday. The Red Sox had previously promoted Double-A manager Chad Epperson to serve as the club’s interim third-base coach.Advertisement
