Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has vowed to continue signing the ‘best players’ amid links with Erling Haaland . The Manchester City star has regularly been mentioned regarding a move to the Bernabeu during his time at the Etihad Stadium. And it’s no surprise given his eye-catching form with City, with Haaland boasting a scarcely believable 161 goals in 196 appearances for the club. It was previously thought that the Norwegian frontman had a release clause written into his contract that could facilitate a move to Real Madrid . But after Haaland signed a new deal with City in 2025 , it was reported that was written out completely. That has not totally dampened talk over his future though. Florentino Perez has recently responded to suggestions that Real could make a move and claimed the club are always interested in recruiting the best talent in world football. JOIN US ON FACEBOOK! I have signed Figo, Kaka, Ronaldo 'Il Fenomeno, Beckham... When there is a good one, I go for him." However, he was more cagey when asked about Haaland specifically. He added: "Haaland? I do not give an opinion on that. It is a job for the sporting management, I do not get involved in the sporting management." Perez is not the only one to have spoken out on Haaland recently. His agent Rafaela Pimenta recently gave an insight into the forward and how negotiations went with City as they attempted to tie him down to a new deal. Speaking to ESPN , she said: "Very serious, they're [City] very organised. They're very big. They know what they're doing, they have a lot of experience, they don't really need anything, they have everything. So we don't have any leverage. "He's a lot like us [football agents],” Pimenta added. "In his way of being -- it's very informal, very comfortable, very relaxed, very low profile...football, for him, is the most serious game you can play. "I think people often have the impression that the football player's job is easier than it actually is. I often say that high-performance football players have to be very intelligent, so don't underestimate the intelligence of those at the top of the pyramid. He has to be very dedicated.” Haaland has enjoyed another stunning campaign for City this term, with 37 goals to his name in all competitions. Boss Pep Guardiola decided to rest him for Wednesday evening’s 3-0 win against Crystal Palace though. Join our new WhatsApp community!
