Ronaldinho has arrived in Ravenna to begin his bizarre new chapter in Italian football, landing at Forlì airport before heading into the Romagna city as the club’s most improbable signing in years.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Brazilian was “convinced by friendship and passion,” as confirmed by club president Ignazio Cipriani, whose organisation also includes former Milan sporting director Ariedo Braida among its senior figures.
Cipriani, who has driven the deal personally and hopes to get “Dinho” onto the pitch at least once more at the age of 46, said the Brazilian “became passionate about the project” and that it’s “an operation designed to bring the whole city closer to the team.”
Ronaldinho: ‘I came here to help, to excite the other players’
Ronaldinho didn’t hide his enthusiasm for the move: “I’m very happy to be here, with friends, we hope things go well for the team. I came here to help, to excite the other players, to have a spectacular season and win.”
Asked to reflect on his previous spell in Italy, at Milan, he picked out one moment above the rest: “My time in Italy? I had many good moments but the goal in the derby is one of the memories that gives me the most pleasure.”
