Ranger Suarez exits start for Red Sox with hamstring tightness

Suarez had been cruising, allowing three hits over four scoreless innings. He’d walked one and struck out three, throwing 70 pitches, 46 for strikes. Suarez was coming off his best start of the season last week in Toronto when he threw eight scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out 10. After finishing the fourth inning, Suarez walked back to the dugout slowly before talking with pitching coach Andrew Bailey. Reliever Tyler Samaniego, who pitched two innings Saturday, entered in the fifth inning for Suarez and recorded two outs before turning the ball over to Greg Weissert. The Red Sox are already without Garrett Crochet (shoulder inflammation) and Sonny Gray (hamstring), though Gray is eligible to return from the injury list this week. If Suarez needs an IL stint, Gray will likely take his spot in the rotation with the Red Sox keeping Payton Tolle, Connelly Early, Jake Bennett and the struggling Brayan Bello in line.
