'Prominent son, distinguished staff': Egypt honours worker killed in Abu Dhabi fire

Abu Dhabi authorities confirmed that an Egyptian national tragically lost his life after fires broke out at the Habshan gas facilities, caused by debris from a successful air defence interception.
According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, two separate fires erupted at the site, and emergency response teams acted quickly to bring the situation under control, with authorities reporting that the facilities sustained significant damage.

The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals has confirmed the death of Engineer Hossam Sadiq Khalifa, Assistant General Manager of Quality Petrojet Company – UAE Branch, who tragically lost his life while performing his duties at the site, and extended its deepest condolences to his family.
The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Minerals, Engineer Karim Badawi, extended his deepest condolences to the family of Engineer Hossam Sadiq Khalifa, his colleagues at Petrojet, and all oil sector workers, emphasising full support for the bereaved family.
The ministry honoured the late engineer’s dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment, describing him as ' prominent son and a distinguished staff' of the Egyptian oil sector.
The evacuation also left four others with minor injuries, including two Egyptian and two Pakistani employees, all of whom received medical treatment and have since been discharged, the statement confirmed.
Earlier, on March 19, the Habshan gas facility was temporarily shut after missile debris fell following successful interceptions. No injuries were reported. On the same day, Abu Dhabi's Bab field was also struck.
