The Pride of Britain Awards have launched this year's search for Wales' unsung heroes. The awards celebrate the extraordinary achievements of people of all ages, from children of courage to lifesaving emergency workers, inspirational fundraisers and people who make the world a better place. Wales-own Carol Vorderman and dancer Ashley Banjo will be fronting the awards when the winners are announced in prime time on ITV1 later this year. It is the 27th year the Daily Mirror has run the awards, sponsored by P&O Cruises. Winners will be chosen later this summer by a panel of Pride of Britain judges. Carol Vorderman said: “It is such an honour to be returning to host the Pride of Britain Awards for the 27th year. Every single year, the incredible winners inspire millions with their stories of courage, empathy and bravery. At a time when division is spreading, the winners send a message of hope and bring people together across Britain. “I'm incredibly excited for the awards later this year and can't wait to read all the nominations and hear about their wonderful achievements.” Past Welsh winners of the awards include Rhian Mannings who received a Special Recognition Award for establishing the "2 Wish Upon A Star" charity, providing support to parents bereaved by the sudden loss of a child. Hari Thomas and Dylan Pritchard-Evans won a 2023 Bravery Award. The boys safely steered a car to the hard shoulder of the M4 at night when Hari’s mother passed out at the wheel while driving them home from football training in Swansea . Daily Mirror editor-in-chief Chloe Hubbard said: “Every nominee is deserving of recognition and all of the stories are important to share with the nation. “The Pride of Britain team will search every corner of the country for our 2026 winners, and I can't wait to see the extraordinary unsung heroes we find.” P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “These awards give deserved recognition to people who selflessly give their time and energy to help others, often without expectation of recognition. Their stories are a powerful reminder of the positive difference one person can make and we are honoured to celebrate their inspiring contributions.” Nominate someone for the Pride of Britain awards online at https://data.reachplc.com/242643338335962 Find out more about the Pride of Britain Awards 2026: http://www.prideofbritain.com
