Price hits double figures with European Tour winImage source, Sebastian Doppstadt/PDC EuropeImage caption, Gerwyn Price won the World Championship in 2021Published2 hours agoGerwyn Price has become only the second player to reach double figures on the European Tour after winning the Grand Prix in Germany.The former world champion beat Ross Smith 8-6 in the final at the Glaspalast in Sindelfingen to win the 10th European Tour title of his career."I've been in the PDC for 12 years now, so less than one a year on average isn't very good," joked 41-year-old Price.The Welsh number two beat Dave Chisnall, Chris Dobey, Martin Schindler and Wessel Nijman on the way to a final which he clinched with 14-dart hold."I was 3-0 up, then 4-3 down, and Ross started smashing the trebles in for fun. I was hanging on and hoping I got more opportunities, and I did," said Price, who lost in the final on his only other appearance on the circuit this year."I was just struggling to get over the winning line. I lost in the last European Tour final that I played in," he added."Thankfully I won this one, and hopefully it will give me a bit of confidence going forward."The only other player to reach double figures for trophies won on the European Tour is Dutchman Michael van Gerwen.Related topicsDartsWales Sport
