Pregnant woman and man found dead in Queensland home - child found at the scene

Published: 22:15, 5 August 2026 | Updated: 22:45, 5 August 2026 A woman understood to be pregnant and a man have been found dead after a tense seven-hour police siege at a home in rural Queensland, in a suspected murder-suicide. The bodies of a 23-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man were discovered inside a property on King Street in Charleville early on Thursday morning. A young child who was inside the home was found with a minor leg laceration and taken to Charleville Hospital in a stable condition. Emergency services were first called to the property on Wednesday evening following reports of a serious assault. As the situation unfolded, police locked down several streets around the home from 5.59pm, ordering residents to stay inside while specialist officers tried to negotiate with a man believed to be armed.  The lockdown remained in place for about seven hours before it was lifted at 1.42am. Just before 6.30am on Thursday, specialist officers entered the property and found the man and woman dead. Queensland Police said no officers or members of the public were injured during the incident.
